Getting To Know Jan Peregrine (jankp on Epinions.com)
Hi! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Jan Peregrine. I
grew up as 'Janet' and a couple of people have called me'Janny,' but I like it
short and sweet, to the point. I don't live in the past, so why should I have
sentimental names confusing my identity on top of all the other things that
confuse me in life...like this computer, the presence of undeserved suffering,
the origin of evil, the constitutional rights of those hunted smokers...So just
call me Jan and we'll get along great.
"In the spirit of short and
sweetness, let me sketch myself. I'm not a great painter like God is, but I know
God inspires the picture of a young, fresh-faced woman running across a mountain
meadow like in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, singing to the beauty surrounding her, losing
all track of time, smelling the wildflowers and praire grass that make her so
giddy she falls down and rolls until, falling asleep, she dreams of being a
sunflower.
"That is my dream and my quest. I shall make it mine because
in my mind it already is...and that's all that is needed.
"I hope to be
a simple creature of the beauty that comes from within. I don't pride myself in
being religious because I am not that pretentious. I am spiritually free to
become the most graceful, sun-worshipping flower of God's creation, free to know
and be known by a God who cannot ever be fully known or appreciated in turn.
"Do I sound irresponsible? Lazy? Rebellious, perhaps? Well, I am! I'm
not responsible according to conventional standards that kill the spirit. I
prefer to enjoy a child's innocent love of life. And I rebel against being
limited in what I can do and be and know and feel.
"So that's me. My sketch is more of an outline...or is it? Haven't I described what is flourishing
inside me, a flower? How can there be an outline when my inner dreams of beauty
are breaking through the walls?"
